Question Any input for a masters student?

Dear All,

I know this sort of question can be very vague and slightly annoying, but i'd love people's opinions on this...

I am a graduate with a 2.1 in microbiology, currently studying for an MSc in Public Health. I've got until the end of August to finish my dissertation, and was wondering if people thought it feasible to study for the GAMSAT in this time if I put aside 2 days a week to revise. My biology background is pretty firm, however physics and chemistry are a real weakness...I like to think I can write reasonably well (this post not included) but don't have much knowledge of literature or critical discussion of texts etc.

Do people think that 2 days a week for 4 months is enough time? Also, someone mentioned to me that medical schools actually ignore post-graduate degrees for the purpose of applications, so my masters wouldn't add anything to my ap....not a big deal but annoying none the less.

Apologies for vagueness of question, but any input much appreciated! I can't believe how daunting this exam seems...

Thanks all.

No they don't ignore your degree. It doesn't factor into your selection like your undergrad degree but it's still a factor. Also, when your applying for posts after the foundation years it may come in use again!

I'm doing a MSc in Oncology so I'm doing the research for it now, due to complete in 6 weeks then have until september to complete it. I plan to get the majority of the writeup done by early August, leaving a month for the main revision as I'm revising and and getting a grip with the GAMSAT now.

Good Luck! It can be done and I'm also working fulltime after this research is completed so just work hard for a good mark, we've got until september so just pace yourself!
