GAMSAT for which year?

At the risk of exposing my IQ, does the GAMSAT work like this - you sit the exam this year September 08 for entry to med school next year September 09?

Like the UKCAT is done this year and then one applies in Autumn for entry next year. Is the GAMSAT the same?

Thanks

Depends, it's a tad more flexible.

For example there are Swansea applicants that are yet to take the GAMSAT because they plan to do it in Ireland in march ( or at least I think it's March).

However the general model is to take it in september 2007 (for example) for entry 2008.

Assuming you're UK based (i.e. not Ireland) then yes- if you want to apply for 2009 entry you will need to sit the GAMSAT in September this year. The dates with UKCAT are more flexible (i.e. there are many available dates) but you still need to take it before you send off the UCAS form- because many schools take the result into account when deciding whether to call you for interview. The UKCAT result is only valid for one year, but the GAMSAT result can be carried over to the following year if necessary. I'm not sure how the GAMSAT Ireland works (but I think it's March 2008 for Sept 2009 entry, so if anything it's actually earlier) but in any case, you can only take the exam once per application cycle- I think this applies to the UKCAT as well.

You'd think that, but Swansea will accept 2 results and take the best one from 1 year...
