Is it ness. to do that? or is that just to get the results back earlier?

Do they not send it to unis if you don't do that????

I think they need it to allow them to send the results to unis (either directly or via UCAS I don't know), since it is a unique identifier.

I doubt not having it would stop that happening, but it might take longer to ensure that the right result is allocated to the right candidate.

Good luck at Georges im sure itll all go well- must be nice to know that youve passed GAMSAT already so at least you have 1 interview!

Apologies for the delay in replying - I'm going with ISC Medical in London and I'm going to do a 1 day group course and then a 2 hour one-to-one session. No idea if they are any good but I bought their book and that seems full of useful stuff. Also, someone from there seems to post on this forum (see the Medical School Interviews board) and they seem to say reasonably sensible things.

In answer to your other question - no I didn't apply last cycle as I didn't have enough work experience. Some very nice people I met on this board pointed out to me that I had nothing to lose (apart from the money) by sitting GAMSAT anyway and at the very least I would know what I was up against if I needed to do it again so I decided to go for it. Fortunately I didn't need to retake it this time round so now I just need to get through the interview (arrrgghhh!).

For various reasons I can only apply to one place so I really need to not mess it up and if it at least helps me feel more prepared it should be worth it.

All the best for your results.

Do you know for definite that they have changed these dates? If so, where did you get the information from?
Just spoke to Mrs Regan at St George's and she confirmed that the interviews are still 7th to 25th January 2008.

Did anyone get a reply after sending their UCAS ID to GAMSAt? I got this email this morning: Thanks for your UCAS ID. We have updated our system.
Does anyone know why they wanted it in the first place. I'm sure they've already marked our papers and are in the process of sending the results to the unis. AHHHH!!!

I think the message appeared on the GAMSAT web page after the UCAS deadline for medical applications, so probably has more to do with making sure everything is up-to-date once they were certain everyone who was going to apply through UCAS had done so. That means that once the results are available it should be straight-forward for them to forward them to the universities. I can't think of any reason why they would send them to unis before making them available to us (which doesn't mean they don't do it, of course!)

You're probably right about updating their system. But don't Unis always get results before us? It is definitely the case with A level results, but I could be wrong about GAMSAT.

Yea, they do, but it's not really an issue as it doesn't matter if you know because all the applications have been sent off.

It would have been nice to know them before so that we could have used the info to make a more informed decision about where to apply (like with the UKCAT) but never mind.

It'll be nice to know though

So does this mean that we could get an invite to interview from a GAMSAT uni before we get the results? Wishful thinking I suppose, since as time has gone by my GAMSAT expectations have declined (and they weren't that high to start with!)

I agree that it's a pity that since they were changing the date they didn't put it back to the latter half of August , since then we would have had it before the cut-off date (by my counting having it 24th August would have put the 7 weeks just before the UCAS deadline)!

Anyway there is absolutely no reason why they couldn't have given us the results of sections 1 & 3 about a week after the test since they're computer-marked (and from experience about a thousand can be done in a couple of hours at most). Even allowing for manual checking of the few that would be queried they have known the results for those two sections for quite some time. Any knowledge before making those too-few choices would have been great!

Oh well, "If wishes were horses..."
