Can anyone recommend any books for the Gamsat??

I've recently graduated from Business and Law and i intend on sitting the gamsat in march 2008. I studied biology and chem for the Leaving Cert (4 years ago!). Can't say I remember much! Does anyone know any good books out there which were/are helpful to them?? I'd really appreciate a few names. Thanks a mil!

Hi Annie,

I sat the Gamsat the last 2yrs and would really recommend the books aimed at gamsat.. for my first year i just used science texts (even after a science degree and didnt do so well) but for my second year of sitting it i used the Gamsat Guru and Medired.. they was really good as it gets you thinking the right way for the gamsat exam and both had lots have practise questions-- cos it really isnt a normal exam! so i did wel last year and doing my 1st year of vet now.. so if ur interested in either the books i have both of them still and could tell u more them if your interested..

Hey Anne,

Thanks a mil for your reply and congrats on getting into veterinary! Thats absolutely fantastic! How informative are the books? Like, would it be necessary for me to buy a physics book considering i've never studied it before?

Hi
I have the medprep home-study preparation course, very costly though. I can't comment on whether it helped me as I didn't take GAMSAT and only going for UKCAT schools but other people speak highly of it and there is a study plan on what you should cover etc. It's one book with everything you need including a diagnostic test to highlight your weaknesses and two full length exams to do after the course.
Let me know if you are interested.
Best wishes

Hi there,

I see from the replies you recommended more GAMSAT aimmed books, could you tell me where I can buy them as I was considering doing as you had in reviewing science texts, thanks for the heads up on that! I have not done science in 8 years so anything which covers from basics needed!

Thanks

Alice

The "GAMSAT GURU" books are rubbish. Seriously they are not worth the paper they are printed on. You will struggle anyway if you're not a science grad (but it's not impossible), but to try and do it through the GURU would be murder for you. I was a second year genetics student at the time I started on the GURU and it was hopeless. It leaves vast swathes of stuff out and is very confusing.

One thing I will def. recommend is "Organic chem for dummies"

That is a necessity.

Good luck
