Hows everyone's prep so far?

I just wanted to see how everyones doin in their GAMSAT preperation. Cant beleive its in 2 weeks, i'm absolutly bricking it! I still havent managed to get through all the sciences- namely physics. Its also hard to know exactly what you need to know.

Is there anyone here doin the GAMSAT in sheffield?

Hey,

Im not preparing yet, but seen as no-one replied yet.
How about using books like AS/A2 physics in a week, just to quickly go over topics you havent covered yet.
you could borrow them from a library.

Good luck. x

GRIMSAT...mmmmmmm.......not feeling overly confident....The Qs are so god damm hard....I've just thrown the Gradmed Section 1 book on the floor...I feel like I'm going backwards, not forward !!!
Anyone else, feel this way...

Is it common to have re-sit GAMSAT ???
Why do we do this to ourselves ??

Am currently panicking more for my essay... really don't know how you're meant to answer the second of the two essays.

Anyway, as far as what to cover goes, Wikipedia has a list of topics for the GAMSAT (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Gamsat_guide). I don't know how reliable it is, but it's listing for physics says:

<Quote>
The physics content of the GAMSAT seems to vary greatly - the 20% theory seemed from my experience to be a rather inflated estimate. Still common themes tend to emerge over the years - favourite areas seem to be relatively simple electrics (although I was confronted with a hideously difficult question looking at how to reduce voltage - so going beyond the simple basics may be a good idea!), gravity related areas, optics...

* Forces at rest
* Force and Motion
* Vibration, Waves and Sound
* Gravitational and Electrical Fields
* Currents and circuits
* Electromagnetism
* Thermal Physics
* Particle Physics
* Optics

Hope this helps.

Yes I too feel like i'm going backwards. I was much better prepared in everything other than organic chem 2 months ago. It's been ages since I've done the physical chem and physics now and I feel i've forgotten it all. I've written very few essays and they always turn out drifting off the point.

My plan is to finish the organic chem in the next few days then quickly re-do all the physical chem and forget about the physics. I intended to do those last and probably won't get a chance to do them anyway. I am never doing this exam again, it's awful. Thankfully I'm a biological sciences student, so I was able to just miss out the biology learning.

Feel terrible about it and I've been really apathetic over the last few days. Suppose I'm gonna have to try and make a big push over the next week.

Anyone sitting it in Swansea?

hey good to hear other people feel same way about physics....im a biomed graduate so generally biology and chem are ok....its the god dam physics...got my head around vectors, electrics and cple other things but doubt its up to the a-level standard required...ah well....see how it goes...if in doubt guess....have 25%chance of getting it right!!

anyone taking the exam in sheffiled?

I did gamsat last year, with no prior prep before hand-got 56, not enough, but made me feel alright given that I'm a history grad with no science background at all- had a nightmare of a year trying to do a level bio and as chem, so hopefully some of that will be enough to nudge marks up a little- don't really know! the whole damn thing is a nightmare! is so hard as an arts grad to know what the best thing to do is- with only four choices its a bit of a nightmare trying to decide what way to put the applications- do you do science again, or just opt straight for the 6 year courses- it'll take forever, but at least you're in! Ah, my head is fried- I'm going back to bed!

oh and my reason for replying- stats show that if guessing, go with "C"- have over 25% chance of getting it right!

Shhhhh

Don't give the game away

Yea, it's a nightmare. Be so glad once it's done. I'm never doing this again, if I don't get in this year I'm doing 4 UKCAT unis next time. I understand why unis use this, but it is a bit over the top (or at least the prep for it has given me the idea that is it).
