Heya, since I managed to get into RCSI this year and I don't have to sit the GAMSAT again I'm clearing out all the books I won't need. I'm selling them all at a good bit less than what I bought them for, but the postage is a bit pricey. My ebay account doesn't have enough feedback to put the Buy it Now option on, so if you'd like to buy the item straight away for the starting bid
if there's no other bidders, please send me a PM and we'll sort it out. If there's anyone in the Dublin area who wants to buy the books and pick them up personally, I'm more than willing to accomodate (but I'll be in Norway from the 5th-11th September).
Physics
Barron's Let's Review Physics - The Physical Setting €4.00
Physical Chemistry
Barron's Let's Review Chemistry €4.00
School-leaving level text, ideal if you have little or no prior chemistry knowledge, or if it's seriously rusty. I started off with this before moving onto...
Chemistry: The Central Science €20.00
Undergraduate text, explains the concepts extremely well and covers essentially every aspect of physical chemistry (and a bit of bio/organic chemistry, though not enough by itself to prepare you for the exam, some useful stuff I didn't see in the other books nonetheless). Comes with a supplementary CD, which I actually didn't use so I can't tell you if it's any good.
Organic Chemistry
Organic Chemistry for Dummies - €6
I don't think this book needs any introduction around here. It's the best book I'm aware for tackling GAMSAT organic chemistry with little or no background knowledge.
Biology
Human Biology - Daniel D. Chiras - €15
A good text if you haven't studied biology before - it was one of my main subjects in secondary school so I just used it as a refresher. It didn't introduce any wildly new ideas, but I wasn't left underprepared for the GAMSAT. Its main focus is understanding of the body's systems and how they interact with each other to maintain homeostasis, which is exactly the kind of thing you need to be comfortable with in the exam.
