Which universities use GAMSAT?

Apologies I'm sure it is somewhere in this forum but no found it yet. Is there a sticky about it?

Also, in terms of being able to prepare what are peoples views on GAMSAT vs UKSAT?

Thanks

I take it you're talking about graduate entry?

Nottingham, Swansea, St. Georges and Pen. (for 5 year). I think that's it. Have a look on the GAMSAT website.

Having the nightmare of a summer I'm having, I can speak from experience of preparing for both GAMSAT and UKCAT. GAMSAT is all about knowledge, so start early and plan for a boring summer. UKCAT seems to be about getting frustrated with a book that calls itself "preparing for the UKCAT and BMAT" and it's woefully inadequate answers. That said it is pretty essentail to actually get this book.

Basically GAMSAT is a knowledge based endevour and UKCAT relies on focusing your abilities at answering meaningless questions.

Anything else you wanna ask?

Hi Angel

Thanks so much for your speedy answer. I'm really yo yoing at the moment and not sure whether to go for my dream or back away. I can change my mind several times in a hour. I've got a degree (BA 2i) and an MSc. I feel a knowledge based exam would be better for me as I can learn things and write essays however, it limits your choices and UKCAT looks dreadful esp with the non-verbal reasoning bit in it. I don't think you can swot up for that part but would love to be proved wrong.

I won't be able to apply until Sept 2008 as I need to get some work experience together plus do a Biology and Chemistry A level.

Best wishes

M

Don't forget that Keele also use the GAMSAT now, for graduates who wish to be considered for direct entry to 2nd year of their five year course.

If you're going to do the GMASAT exam, you dont have to do the UKCAT, and if you get above a certain mark, you get garunteed an interview in peninsula (not sure about the others, i think its the same wht them too).

I can say i'm havin a borin summer so far. I only recently started studying, and i'm already scared.

It's basically just the same as putting in your choices when you fill in your UCAS form. Pick either 4 year or 5 year courses. 4 yr courses are for graduates who are from a science background or non-science background ( depends on what degrees unis accept). Last time I read the keele prospectus, they said that they were considering the use of GAMSAT, but on the UCAS they have keele as one of the unis which are using GAMSAT. So, I would think that they will be using it for those graduates with a 2.1 or above to study for their GEP (Graduate Entry Program) course. Also, they said that they have around 20 places available for graduates for the 4 yr course.

To answer you first question, yes they will accept your degree if it's a Biological sciences degree. Most Unis accept degrees in that category.

To answer your second question, yes you'll have the choice of choosing either to apply to their 4 or 5 yr course.

If you wish to know more about this you should email them and read their prospectus for more information.

Which unis are you intending to apply to?
