gamsat prep-where to start???

hi,
i'm wondering where on earth to start with prep for the gamsat. i have acer practice questions and 5 0zimed papers. but not sure if just doing the questions will help as i don't really know where to start. do you have any suggestions on where to start? is it helpful to go through some a-level course stuff? also how is the chemistry side of things? -not my strong point- just wondering how to tackle it? go for the reasoning route or learning basic chemistry all over again. any suggestions gladly welcomed. thanks

I sat the full length acer paper under exam conditions first. Then I marked it and identified areas I needed to work on - organic chemistry being a big one.

In my opinion revision is a bit of a waste of time for GAMSAT. The exam relies on your ability to read and assimilate information quickly (in the science section). The answers are usually in the question and don't often require extra knowledge. You can demonstrate this by doing a previous paper, without going against the clock you'll probably find you can answer 90%-ish correctly. Against the clock is a totally different game, and is where the practice is needed.

You'll have to spend ££££s on the GAMSAT sample questions I'm afraid, after all GAMSAT is really just about the money! Selection exams went out of fashion in the late 80s in the rest of commerce as they were found to be unreliable. It's taking medicine a while to catch on!

Mendelian genetic cross diagrams seem to be a common theme, perhaps an understanding of these would be useful.

Please bear in mind I did GAMSAT 3 years ago and things may have changed.

Good luck ... Fizz

A general science understanding is essential. If you don't know what volts and amps are or what a chiral centre is, you need to do a bit of swotting.

Practice essay writing.

I got by with the 3 acer practice papers.
