It was harder than I expected- and MUCH longer than the practice ones.

I think ACER only produce 1 full length practice one (the Practice Test) and the other 2 papers (Sample Questions and Practice Questions) are much shorter - was it those that you meant?

What did anyone think of the difficulties of the different sections? I thought Section I was OK - could have been a lot worse - and I managed to write some stuff for Section II which won't win any literary prizes but wasn't dire. Section III wasn't great for me though - seemed to require more biology knowledge than the previous papers I had seen which threw me a bit (the whole question with the cell with the mitochondria, ATP, vesicles etc. etc. plus I think there was another question about meiosis). And my brain just refused to grasp the headless cockroaches thing

Fortunately I'm applying for 2008 entry so there's always September if I have ploughed it!

P.S. Was anyone else freezing their fingers off in Lawrence Hall?

I didn't make myself clear- I meant the practice test. There seemed to be so much reading. I agree, the 1st two sections were ok but then there was the science section. It seemed so long, and you really needed to pay attention to every detail to come to the correct answer.

Hi people.
Hmmmmm just got in from London, and yes Lawrence Hall was damn cold. I was sitting near the fire exit. not exactly the best motivation for an exam. But nonetheless we ploughed through it. I found the exam to be much more difficult than expected, with Section 1 being exceptionally vague, (what on earth was the council and king picture about? ). Section 3 was tough and not alot of stuff i revised for it came up. Perhaps more attention should have been paid to the organic chemistry and forces in Physics. But hey its done now, and I must admit glad its over. Does anyone know an estimate of the cut off point for this exam?
Thanks
Phil

It was as hard as I'd expected. I nearly barfed from anxiety during lunchtime when I tried to eat my packed lunch. I noticed a strange side effect of stress was that my banana had shrunk to the size of an acorn and I found it difficult to take a leak, but maybe that was the arctic cold. One good point was the bird sitting next to me and that kept my spirits up no end.

Hi all you fellow Gamsaters!

Just got home from London town and love the fact I'm in the a nice warm room. It was so cold in Lawrence Hall, I couldn't feel my fingers and toes and could barely concentrate.

As my first Gamsat experience I can't really judge how I did and I really don't want to tempt fate. It was a long day thats all I can say and my brain is frazzled now.

Bit confused about section II though, don't know what was expecting really so we will see

Does anyone think the cutoff will be lower than previous years?? I do hope so.

Its now the waiting game, again!

I thought that the guy was trying very tactfully (to the point of not actually saying it!) to say that the reason that things were all so screwed up was that the king was responsible and so he was the one who had to "take the next step" i.e. give up the throne. Of course, I could have been wrong on that one...

Amen to that!

I believe it has ranged from 59 to 63 (as for what that means in %, who knows? Could be 64% to 68% or something else altogether - see 55 marks or 55% thread for more discussion). Some people seemed to think it would probably be higher this year (based on the number of people taking it - can't remember the logic). Basically ACER are meant to scale the marks so they are comparable year on year (otherwise being able to use a mark for 2 years wouldn't work) and George's and Notts seem to go for the top 25% of candidates. My brain can't work out the implications of that right now but I reckon above 65 is probably unlikely - but what do I know? (Answer: very little organic chemistry unfortunately )

There was this invigilator in birmingham, she had such a nice bottom. she kept walking past my desk in a nice woolly dress and i kept losing my place in section 1! Perhaps it was the adrenaline making me like this, normally i'm more pragmatic.

I thought that it was pretty much what I was expecting, the cell biology stung me a bit as did the circular motion questions. Also the last 5 on sect 1 were tough (you know about Foucault's writing). Some questions that came up were virtually identical to previous years. Just hope i made the cut is all.

I sat the GAMSAT today in Cardiff... found it pretty difficult too!

I wasn't going to bother sitting it at all, because I was hoping Bristol would get back to me with an offer beforehand, but they didn't.

But guess what happened when I got in from the exam... check out the UCAS track... Bristol have given me a conditional offer!!! Why couldn't it have been a couple of hours earlier!!! lol oh well, it's done now!

Was cold in Cardiff too!
