Gradmed courses for humanities graduates

Can anybody offer me advice concerning the Gradmed courses offered on gamsat.co.uk? Their web-site is elusive to say the least, which usually means they are ridiculously expensive.

I am currently a final year history undergraduate at King's and have not done any sciences since Biology AS.

My questions are:

1) Where do the courses take place?
2) What course would be most suitable for somebody in my position (I presume the Full-preparation course)
3) How long do they last and how many contact hours a week do they entail?
4) How often are they run?
5) How much do they cost?
6) Are they any good?

I would greatly appreciate any assistance on these matters.

Hi there

I did the full Gradmed course this year and I would recommend them. The course (like everything in life) is not perfect, but it is a really good foundation. Probably their main strength is that over the course you get a good handle on how to handle the individual questions, as well as the whole test.

I suppose that for me, the proof was that before I did the course I had a look at the Gamsat papers and really didn't have a clue, but after the course could certainly work my way through them with not too much problem. (The Gamsat exam itself is another story, but I figure that if I struggled, then so did everyone else, so we'll all be on the same footing) And as everyone says, it seems the main problem is to pass the essay section, and that is something you shouldn't have a problem with.

If I have to rewrite, it will probably be because of that, and next time I will do Des O'Neills writing course as well and probably another one if I can find it as the more input you get and the more people you can get marking your papers the better, I figure.

1) Where do the courses take place?
Imperial College on the weekends

2) What course would be most suitable for somebody in my position (I presume the Full-preparation course)
Yep

3) How long do they last and how many contact hours a week do they entail?
Three months of weekends 10am - 6pm

4) How often are they run?
There are several groups in the last part of the year - email them.

5) How much do they cost?
+- £2000

6) Are they any good?
Got me from not being a contender to being a contender.

If you're serious about doing this, I'd try and get myself on some a'level courses - chem, bio, physic (in that order), else at the very least get some good A'Level books and work your way through them prior to starting Gradmed - at least then you'll be able to learn the fine detail that Gamsat needs rather than trying to figure out the basics during your lessons. (Remember, with Gamsat you're not just trying to pass, you're trying to be in the top 10 - 15% of 1800 people!)

Cheers
Dave

Hello B E

You can get those answer to those question's from gradmed, they will send you the info.

The course are good, but to save you money, don't do a course that you are good on, I mean really good.

For you a long term course, you'll be better off donig the science only, it doesn't make it apparent that you can pick n choose but I did the course and I was aware of people who did.
