Did anyone finish the section 3 (science part)of the Gamsat?

Just back from the lovely exam that was Gamsat!!

I didn't get to finish the exam on Section 3....soooooo peeved. I got to about 84 and then the Invigilator said "put your pencils down" and I had a mad rush to just colour as many remaining circles in. I didn't even get to glance at what the questions were.

Did anyone else find this or is my time management just totally pants..

Anyway, I am off to the pub to drown my sorrows.

Best of luck to everyone!

Gxx

You got further than me. I didn't finish section 1 either.
It it so difficult to do all those questions in the time allowed.
Good luck every one.

Before I reply to your post can I just say that this was without doubt the worst most difficult exam I have ever come across. Not because it was difficult but the sheer frustration at not having enough time to finish. I had done about 2/3 of Section 1 when I realised I hadn't left enough time. This was repeated in Section 3 about 10-15 questions from the end. I was kicking myself about not leaving enough time for Section 1 and then proceeded to do the same in Section 3. I looked at my watch and had enough time about half way through Section 3 only to find a short time later that I didn't have enough time left.
It's not so bad if you find that you can't answer questions as you haven't studied enough, that can be rectified, but I shot myself in the foot by not planning my time correctly. Oh well, I hope everyone else did well, if I don't get in this year then I will definitely plan my time better 2nd time around. Are we just isolated cases or did everyone feel the same way?
On a plus note I think I did a stormer of a Section 2, I gues we all had our good and bad sections eh?

I'm now off to consume large amounts of alcohol and hit my head off the wall. Have a good weekend folks!

I totally mistimed section 1 - and I was feeling really pleased with myself as I could see that I was further ahead than the two people sitting next to me - so it must have been fairly common!

As you guys say, we all have our good and bad sections. I just finished in time for I and had about 4 minutes spare in III. My weakest section is without doubt II though. I found doing the practice GAMSATs from ACER against the clock useful in getting my timing right.

Remember you certainly don't have to finish each question to do well. I had to rush some of my answers to finish - it's a bit of a trade off isn't it.

Good luck all.

Without wanting to sound completely wierd I actually really enjoyed the scince part, think it was largely relief though as was dreading it! Was v pleased to see large chem content as am chemist also!! Thought I was timing perfectly but at 5 mins to go I had 10 Q's to go so just plonked down anything! Part I wasn't too bad either, the stats manipulation was good, but part II was never going to be anything shirt of disasterous for me, almost laughed myself when got the Q papers!
Despite being the longest day ever I thought it was great to meet so many like minded people, there was a really good atmosphere and it was fab to see the complete diversity of applicants which can only be good for the future of the profession as a whole!
Hope everyone found it ok! XX

I was a bit pressed for time as well on the last paper; about 10 questions were just "pick 'n mix", and I had no time to go back and review questions I had a question mark over. Too many questions on chirality for my liking; for me, they're not the sort of question you can rush over (or maybe its just me being left handed). Section 1 surprised me; I didn't feel there were too many heavy duty passages there. I was most concerned over section 2, because I didn't practice at all for this, but in the end, it was ok, and I had a ton of time left over. Time will tell if my confidence was misplaced or not.

Does anyone know if GAMSAT do a customer response form or something; there's a few things at the Nottingham test centre I felt weren't good enough for a 170 quid exam.

Inadequate bathroom facilities for a start (and I don't think the exam facilities were even full, judging by the number of empty desks downstairs), strong fluorescent lighting (man, it gave me a headache), main clock not working (should have been covered over; they had another put on a chair, but it wasn't too clear from where I was). I was down in the basement.

I just wanted to give them some useful feedback.

Section 3 was a nightmare. Too much chemistry for my liking - because my knowledge isn't up to scratch, a lot of the areas I had to work through from first principles, which left me pushed for time. I got to about question 90 with 10 minutes left. Skim read the remainder, attempted those I knew I could answer quickly and completely guessed the rest. I think I did OK on the questions I attempted, so hopefully it is enough.

Section 1 was fine (apart from the Greek scholar question), and I enjoyed section 2. Hopefully these should help pull my overall mark up a bit.

Glad it's over. If I had my time again, I would prepare differently.
