GAMSAT

rate of substitution

rate of substitution into a benzene ring.

Say If you sustitute a group for one of the Hygrogens on a benzene ring, then how does the rate of reaction change?

well heres a few common substituents, and their effect on the rate of reaction.

OH..........l
NH2.........l
OCH3......l
CH3.........l
Cl............l
CHO.........l
SO3H.......l
NO2.........V Decreasing rate of reaction.

Do you do forces and mechanics? I'm struggling there. I also need to do some work on acids and bases, enthalpy and entropy.

I could use some help - send some of the brainwaves this way (or come and babysit for my 1 year old!)...
