GAMSAT cut off for interview for SGUL and Notts
Yes the results are in. UCAS posted them yesterday and so you should receive them today. Please don't phone if they haven't arrived as results won't be released over the phone.
The cut off for interview at St George's and Nottingham will be 62 - same as last year. You should also make sure that you have scored the minimums in each paper - paper 2 - 55 and in papers 1 & 3 you must get at least 55 in one paper and 50 in the other. Also remember that we calculated the scores in two ways - double weighting and single weighting paper 3. We use the highest of these two scores.
St George's interview letters are going in the post today - probably to arrive on Sat.
Please, please, please don't phone the office as we are understaffed because of illness and won't give information over the phone.
Also can I remind those on the forum of the short sightedness of sharing interview questions (or at least what you might think are the interview questions!). There will be about 340 students invited for interview who applied to SGUL - and only 80 places. It's competitive and so it would be foolish to give someone else an advantage over you...
Those who applied to SGUL and are being interviewed at either SGUL or Notts are invited to attend an open day on 14 March from 4-8. Details with interview letter.
Good luck to all waiting for results.

Hi,
Thanks for posting this.
Could you just clarify. The gamsat booklet I got when I took the exam said this:
"To be considered for interview for admission to the
graduate entry programmes at St George’s and
Nottingham, candidates must achieve a minimum score
of 55 in Section II, and 55 in either Section I or Section
III."
ie, with no reference to getting "50 in the other paper".
I presume the 50 reference has been missed in the gamsat booklet....
MMI am actually MediCMark? but did something bad to my profile...

My GAMSAT score was 60, but calculated using the single weighting of paper 3 it's 61.7....do you reckon I might get away with it??? I got the required minimum score for each paper.

You are right MedisMark the 50 has been missed from the GAMSAT info booklet. It should read at 50 and 55 in Sections I and III (either way round)

Does that mean that with my GAMSAT score ...
section1 - 75
section2 - 52
section3 - 65
overall - 64
... I will not be called for an interview??
its pretty clear from your post that I won't actually ... but it would be good to get a confirmation!!
thanks

Medi(sc) ...
Ahhh ... such is life. In between writing up my final year project report and other assorted assignments and recovering from what can only be bird flu (fie all you doctors who don't believe me!!
) the sting in the tail of section 2 fits right in.
Incidentally, the essays were my downfall on BMAT too ... Confucius (!) I curse you ...
Thanks for the sympathy ... Peninsula is me only hope now. Do they have a similar cutoff?? I was reading that 62 is the overall cutoff there but nobody mentioned any minimums. I'm sure they are lurking somwehere in the murky depth of fine print ...
Best of Luck!!

But then I'm not complaining too loud because it was the essays that saved me and my scientifically feeble mindI am actually MediCMark? but did something bad to my profile...

dont get me wrong ... it is extremely disappointing, but there isnt much i can do now except practise more for next year's exam!!
the whole process seems slightly bonkers but they have to use some demented yardstick to measure potentials and with the huge imbalance in ratio of applicants to places there will always be disappointments. better me than someone else.
if i was lord mayor of med applications then i would call every person who applied for an interview. that is THE ONLY way to really guage somone's suitability to be a doctor imho. but the logistics ... the logistics!!
peninsula is an outside chance but seems unlikely that their cutoffs will be hugely different from george's ... actually i really want to go there ... good kiting in the south west.
did 'house' have to go through this process i wonder?? is that why he became so jaded? ha ha!!Last edited by thewalrus42; 24-02-2006 at 03:15 AM.
