Des O'Neill essays

I recently received information about the Des O'Neill essay marking stuff along with the sample essays. I found the samples, even the discursive one, to be quite personal and used a far more informal style than I'd be inclined to.

Did anyone else think this or is it just me being 'British'?

I thought that, but they say it is meant to show the two sides of your character and that you have a good bedside mannor etc, but i am stil inclined to used a strong structure with mine but need to remember to put personal things in.

Hi there,

I agree with North and actually Des has criticised me throughout as I am now on essay E7, for not "being emotional enough". I simply haven't been taught that way and am not comfortable writing in the informal way that some of the samples suggest.

I have stuck to my own way that I feel Ok with, not using first person etc in Arg essays and have been getting B5 for the last few essays , so I reckon its best to take what you can from the samples but stick with what you feel comfrtable with as you will write best that way.

Des O Neill Essays

I have been thinking about how I am going to answer the discursive essays as I think I have good technique for the arg ones. How personal/informal are they supposed to be?
