Was it worth it?? (Getset for Gamsat -£295)

Hi all,

I know I gave a run down about the good advice they gave, here's the full story:

£300 seemed like TOO MUCH, in my opinion, for a two day course without accomodation etc, but, on reflection, it was very good value:

seven lectures - 2 x Chemistry, 2 x Biology, 1 x Physics, 1 on Section i, 1 on section ii
four mini exams (two marked by the experts, two self-marked)
plus 'expert forums' on each exam.

Breaks down at around £15 for each lecture/exam/forum, which seems reasonable.

The trouble was, this was the first time they'd run the course and it showed: they didn't mark some things quick enough, they kept it STRICTLY to the alloted time which meant we were rushed on rather than allowed to ask too may burning questions, some of the multiple choice answers for both the science and the humanities exams were typos/wrong (never did find out the promised 'average score' for science, which was, as they pointed out, vital as GAMSAT depends on comparison rather than passmarks). The self-marked sections meant we had no overall average score either.

Half the 'experts' were actually 2nd/3rd medical students, good on the science, but the advertising is slightly misleading on this point.

And they feed you really horrible food. We were given dry, not very nice sarnies with a measly orange and packet of crisps (ALL ready salted).
For £300 it could have at least been a decent M&S sandwich - don't you think? (Did anyone go on this course? Opinions?)

Hi. I agree, the course was good and for the price there was really nothing else in the range. Lunch was horrid and the bio and physics lecturers were terrible I thought, but the chem lady was good and so was the ucas one.

I would have liked all my exams marked, or at least an idea of the marks in the humanities section, I have emailed them to ask about the science marks.

all in all they packed a lot in and did pretty well, i think next year it will be well worth doing, the essay and humanities scores have boosted my practice marks and was a good kick start if like me your revision was getting a little stale !!

what did others get in the humanities, I got 31/40 and have little idea how this fares !
