If it makes any of you feel better I started A-Level physics yesterday...thats right 4.5weeks to go...and just starting physics which I've not done since GCSE!!! I'm feeling truly behind!! (that said I just took a practice PH1 test and bossed an 86%...lets hope some of it sticks eh!!)
Also I'm struggling to find notes and books for 1st year degree level chemistry...any ideas anyone?

4.5 weeks to go...but 3 weeks off for intensive revision...happy days...my family's gonna love me..all stressed over xmas!

Good luck everyone,...hope my dire straits are useful in making you all feel better! :P

I'm not taking the GAMSAT test but I wish everyone the best of luck with it. studleyb, from what I have seen of first year chemistry it is really just revisitng A level. I did physics/maths at uni in the first year and it was just revision. In case you have not got an A level text, I can recommend:

Chemistry in Context
by Graham Hill and John Holman
fifth edition
isbn 0-17-448276-0

I've never done chemistry before, and I am using it for my A level studies. I think it is a very good book.

As a mother of 1, working full time, trying to squeeze in more work experience, and studying for GAMSAT, I think we could all benefit from some time out!

Up until about a week ago, I was studying Physics in my lunchbreak, and and hour of chemistry in the evenings (once I'd collected my little one from nursery and got him to bed). I was also working compressed hours (so full time hours squished into 4 days) so that I could spend Friday's helping out in my local hospital. I found my self completely burnt out, unable to sleep properly, ill all the time, run down, and with my head so full of science, I couldn't string a logical sentance together. :?

Last week I found myself feeling really depressed about the whole thing, and was bursting into tears at random moments for no reason! :? Anyway, this last week I have had a complete break from the science stuff, written a couple of essays, but have generally given myself some breathing space. I'm now feeling much calmer and as a result feel like I can cope this nasty Grimsat afterall, and maybe even do well.

Moral of the story - give yourselves a break. We're all intelligent people (otherwise we wouldn't be here), so you can afford to have a week of letting your brain soak up the copious amount of information you've been chucking at it! I guarantee you'll feel much better for it.

Today I woke up with my first panic attack! I am still awaiting the practice papers and dont even have text books yet.... so this should offer you all some confidence in that there are other people out there in a worse situation than you guys! so dont worry...i need to worry and get my ass into gear. i hoped that logging into the web site would freak me out and make me start doing some revision...but instaed i think it has scared me even more.
