Something to make you happy

On Sunday I met a guy whos doing the Gamsat. He has done NO revision at all so far.

Compared to him, most of the people on this forum have done loads and loads of revision, so not everyone is as prepared for it as we are on this forum.

So most of us people on this forum are in a much better position than that guy i met.

Just thought ill share that with you as it made me feel better.

I am one of those who has not started studying!

I am a management consultant that works 12 hours a day! I haven't had the time to study or research into study materials.

It's a little sad that you became excited over the fact that you have been preparing for the exam for a while, whilst the bloke you spoke to has not started preparing.

Its a little sad that u think an excuse like working 12hrs a day should prevent u from studying. Now im no superwoman but i work in a busy neuroscience theatre dept doing at least 2-3 on calls a week sometimes starting at 8am and not getting home until the same time the following morning. I am studying for 2 degrees and 3 scottish highers and manage to get my placements done for my BN in mental health nursing. So im sorry but if you want to pass gamsat u'd sure as hell make time to study. I too have taken out a loan to fund all my courses including the gradmed prep course this year. So if u wanna be a doc u would literally sacrifice all ur spare time to studying. Here endeth the lecture!

12 hours a day isn't my excuse, it's my fact.

I am very proud of you, and your conviction. I really am.

But you have to remember that you do not know me, or my circumstances. Thence, passing judgement on me may be a little inappropriate.

I wish you the best of luck in your medical career, your 2 degrees and highers etc etc.

You are worthy of becoming a Dr and obviously I am not.

I should give up now and let worthy people like yourself fill those oh-so-few medical school places.

I didnt quite mean it like that. On sat went to gradmed course to find that the people whove done no work get places and me being only a pleebby wee nurse should never become a doctor. I should be mopping a docs brow. Instead here i am with the flu, a migraine and on call even though im sick cause no one else can cover. Now im no martyr but i get really hurt by the fact that i put in so much blood sweat tears money and sacrifice the quality of my relationship to probably not get a place. By the way if you do want help im willing to help. No hard feelings eh?

I was excited because the guy did not think that he needed to study. That he was complacent about test, thinking that he didnt need to prepare for it.

Also he did not think he had to study as only one uni he applied to was GAMSAT entry.

Call me sad if u like, but knowing that some people that have the time to study do not bother studying as they are also applying to other unis gives me a little hope. Made me realise that the applicants who have applied to just one Gamsat uni may not be preparing as hard as a person like me who has as their eggs in one basket.

I completely understand how you feel about putting your eggs in one basket. I got a 2.2 as well. Applied for SGHMS, PMS, Barts and Bristol... All are the four year courses. Barts I'm taking a gamble with cuz they want 2.1 but it's worth risking since it wouldnt hurt.

Although I have been studying I still feel so unsure that I doubt myself and I get all nervous then for some reason just assume I can't do the question. You cant believe how stupid I felt when i met up with Weegie and North!
