Question Has anybody used the Gamsat Guru mehod?

Hi! I will be sitting the GAMSAT this January and i'm trying to decide whether to do a prep course or not. The gradmed sounds good but costs a ridiculous amount of money so i've been looking at alternative options. I have come across a series of text books, written by a guy in Austrailia, called The GAMSAT GURU method which covers all parts of the exam. Has anybody used them, what did you think? Any info would be fab. It costs £170 for the course of textbooks.

Hi,

Will also be taking the exam in Jan and have seen the same thing - it looks like it is specific to each section/subject, which would be great as there seems to be so much info about. What do other people recommend?

So confused.......

hi guys,

im looking to do the gamsat as well this academic year and came across the gamsat guru website...its sounds too good to be true. the creator, a guy named 'chris' has specifically made a textbook/maniual for each section, and has broken down the science into 4 or 5 sections - physics organic chem, ects...which is superb. iknow i sound really gullible saying this, but the reviews he has on his website from previous customers seems very...i dunno.,...influential, and make me wana buy...but £170 is a bit steep dont you think? he has also stuck a personal memo to all his customers satating that if within 30 days we are nothappy with the purchase, he is willing to give a full refund...cant get any better than that rite? i was thinking...so far there is 3 of us sitting the gamsat, if we all chip in 2gether, about £56.75ish. we can buy this gamsat guru, and benefit from it. or if we can get more ppl in to this syndicate, the cost will be lower amongst the contributors. one of us can collect the oney, put it together, buy the manuals, and photocopy them and pass tem to the rest of the group.

another idea i have which could be implemented was that we shoudl start a mini studying group, where we can meet up, lets say once a week, and benefit from a group study session on the gamsat?

let me know what u guys think of my ideas, especialy the one of the gamsat guru, and hope to speak to you guys soon

Study group

I'll be sitting the exam in jan 06 too. I think a study group is a great idea. But this depends on where we live.... I'm in Kingston surrey, is that nr anyone?

As for the GAMSAT Guru... £170 is fairly cheap compared to others like Dr Prep - nearly £400, Des O'Niell- well over £200. I havent had a look at the guru one yet tho

hi jenc,

thank you for the reply...i am in willesden, which is literally round the corner from brent cross...so ur not too far off from where i am...so this idea coiuld actually work...lets see how many more londoners we can get together for this, and we can go from there...

as for the gamsat guru, so this one is the cheapest? but what do you think about all of us chipping in together to get the manuals? think its a good idea?

i have a question for you, how do i go about applying for the gamsat? is it done thru ucas?and ive heard the paper costs £170 and the duration is 5 and a half hours...heck 5 and a half hours...doesnt sound long does it

Just to let you know 4 of us have a group (we met on www.gamsatforum.com which is actually the gamsat guru forum) and meet in central london, around UCL on Thursday after work if people are interested.

Hey yus2gud,

Yeah 5 and a half hrs sounds about right. The fee for the GAMSAT test is £175 - this is done via UCAS. U can get a fon number from the ucas website then call them and ask them to send u a gamsat info pack. This will hav the registration form for the test (they will only send registation forms after 1st sept i think). u can also order 3 booklets (practice Qs, sample Qs and one other for £37) via ucas.

as for gamsat guru.... although this is the cheapest one I've found so far i dont know if it is the best. I am interested in chiping in for the cost and photocopying. Its really hard to fiind whats good and what isnt.

and as for study grp idea.... when is good 4 u? also depends on the times we work etc... let me know what u think! do u already hav a science background?

I dont know how to pm on here.... if u do let me know

cheers
jen

Hi yus2gud,

No I have not actually used the GAMSAT guru stuff, i signed up to the 10 day free email thing. Some of the advice is ok, but mostly it is obvious. I dont think too many people have used it and its definately not as established as some of the others around. I think best bet is if you try and buy things second hand, that way you save but get better quality materials. Don't worry about assuming, none of the people in our study group have the gamsat guru stuff!

As for the other details I have PMd u.
