Its not bad. I dont think its the best of Emergency medicine texts and some of content is outdated: it doesnt use the current classification of MIs of STEMI and NSTEMI for example

Isn't Blackwell just the publisher? If so it completely varies from book to book as they publish all sorts of medical and non medical textbooks.
On the whole the lecture notes series I find quite good, depending on how recently each one has been updated. Depends what you're looking for, but i find its better for me than crash course/at a glance, but there are better books for some subject areas.

Any UK medical publishers that you could recommend?

I thought 'blackwell' was one of the top.To Succeed You Have to Fail, says Samuel Beckett.

It is, doesn't mean that any publisher will produce the best books for you.
Firstly read a few chapters of various books in library, browse a few on a given topic in the bookshop, or use for a week and return if ordered online if you dont like/cant use it.
its impossible to say so and so is a good publisher therefore their books are the best - technically they're all good, written by experienced people, but the style, layout, structure and detail of academic content varies, if you're into detail, a acertain book may not go as in depth as you'd like, or if like me you need a simpler explanation followed by more detail some start off too high, or are too basic.

Royal Society of Medicine Press
Hi, in answer to your question re medical publishers - The Royal Society of Medicine Press has some really good books - and one new EM text Mastering Emergency Medicine that might be of interest to you. They usually have good discounts throughout the year for students too...

I agree with what's been said re. publishers - depends on author and whether you like their tone and the subject matter covered.
A very good em book in my opinion, suitable for senior clinical students (as it is in fact postgrad for ABEM/MCEM) is An Introduction to Clinical Emergency Medicine. S. V. Madhaddevan and G. M. Garmel, published by cambridge university press, usa.
Have a look for it in the library.Live the dream!
