Gee, I'm sorry to hear that! But you could always take A levels or the IB independantly of your school. It would mean a lot of extra work, but if you'd really like to go to Edinburgh, it could be a possibility!

I emailed one school from Bucharest offering IB but they told me I can't sit unless I'm a student there.
I would really like to sit IB or A levels but I don't think I can sit any of them here. I will certainly do a research online regarding this...2011 Applicant

Hi there!
(Sau as putea spune salut/buna ziua!)
There are three schools in Romania which are certified to offer the IB:
i) The American International School of Bucharest
ii) Barbu Stirbei High School (Calarasi)
iii) Mark Twain International School (Bucharest)
Your best bet is contacting all of these although I'm not sure whether you will be allowed to sit the IB at any of them, unless you are enrolled as a student there in the first place.
Have you contacted Edinburgh's Admissions Service though? Explain your situation and ask them personally whether they accept the Romanian Bac. I'm pretty sure there are a few UK med schools that do, can't think of them of the top of my head but I recall some London ones being amongst them.
In any case I wish you the best of luck with your studies and I hope you will manage to sit the IB or find out that you don't need it at all!

Hey! Salut si tie!

Voi vorbi in eng ca sa nu creada astia ca zic cine stie ce

Mark Twain and the International school are both private and I cannot sit it there [proof: email from them]
I think I can sit IB at barbu stirbei(BS) because it's state-owned. There are also two or the other schools that will provide IB programme beginning next yr. I emailed one of them and they said that given that I'm a junior now there's a high chance I won't be able to take IB next yr.
I will try see if BS will allow me do what I want to else I'm taking my chances with the handful of schools who consider rom bac for med, i.e. Oxbridge (wow!), Dundee, Leeds, Sheff, KCL...there may be some more but i'm not that keen on them
As far as Edinburgh is concerned, i emailed them...twice, and didn't get any answer
I did get some emails from Aberdeen, ICL and UCL all telling me i must sit IB, A-level etc. even though i explained my situation
Btw, are you student in UK? Where, what do you study?2011 Applicant

Da, inteles. Asta e motivul pentru care am continuat sa vorbesc in engleza mai devreme

Would be great if you can do it at BS...quite rubbish though that there are so few schools that actually offer it in the whole country!
Those unis are really good... I never realised Oxbridge accepted rom bac!
Yep I am a UK student (lived here for just over 5 years now). I am studying for my A Levels (Biology, Chemistry, Maths Mechanics & French) at a sixth form in Milton Keynes (in SE England/Midlands).
I'm also a (prospective) 2011 med applicant and have been drawn in by the charm of Edinburgh :P It looks like an amazing place to study but also damn hard to get into! I'm also considering Kings or UCL, Aberdeen & possibly Oxbridge...not sure yet though
Are you just thinking of applying to UK unis or are you also applying to rom med schools?

Yes I will apply to rom med schools too. I will also apply to a few US colleges with good premed programs. In the end, I will choose the best med sch/college for me whether its here or abroad
