    Random question about accomodation

    Hey guys!

So i've got a lovely wee offer for edinburgh and i'm really wanting to go there but unfortunately the whole money thing is proving to be a bit of a problem . . . so i thought i'd ask u smart folks about it

So i was just wondering about accomodation in relation to the med school - how far away is it and do you have to pay for transport to the hospital/school? Why does the rent vary so much from accomodation to accomodation if they are the same in terms of being self catered, catered, suite, en-suite . . . etc?

Any advice, comments or random statements about accomodation at edinburgh would be mucho appreciated

Right, well some of the accom. is closer to the med school than others. obv.

    Places like:
    Darroch Ct
    Nicolson St
    South Clerk St
    New Arthur Pl
    Morgan Ct

are all really close to the medical school where you get most of your lectures.

    Places like:
    Warrender Park Cr
    Warrender Park Rd

are a wee bitty further away.
Pollock and Sciennes are pretty much the same distance away.

I live in Warrender Park Crescent and it can get quite tedious making that same journey every day. and there arent many buses to the hospital nearby.

I would recommend living at Pollock (simply because you will meet more friends living there- FACT)

But if you want self-catered, i'd recommend Darroch (which is all really new flats and a very decent location, especially if you love socialising)

Transport to the hospital on the other hand-
there is a free bus available (providing you show your matriculation card) from near the medical school at Teviot. which is like 20 mins in a bus. Or £1.20 for a single. to get to the hospital from nicolson st/south clerk st/newington road (essentially the same stretch of road) and there are likre 3 buses that will take you there that come all the time.

    Hope this helps.
Look forward to seeing you in September.
