International Applicants To Offer Ratio

Hi there people, first post ever. =)

Was taking a look at the edinburgh prospectus and faculty website. The former said that approximately 4 out of 5 international applicants get an offer, while the latter states '...over 350 applications for 16 International student places'.

The math shows that roughly 280 are made for those 16 places.

That's huge amount considering how popular edinburgh is - doesn't make sense to have so many offers for so few places. :S Could somebody clarify these two seemingly incongruous bits of info?

How strange. Where in the prospectus did you see 4/5 get an offer?! I would imagine the other figure is correct.
