dailey, if you dont mind, can you explain a bit more.

Did you apply there initially?
Were you put on a reserve list or just rejected?
Were you already interviewed, or did you interview in the last week ish?

What Alevels were you predicted/what did you get?
Did you ring them or?
What were your firm and reserve UCAS choices?
Anything else you think swung it for you?

No probs!

I applied to Newcastle for both 5yr and GEP and was interviewed for both at newcastle. I came out with some woefully stupid answers so i was rejected for both no waiting list, just a straight rejection....

As far as i know there wasn't a waiting list and even if they did have a waiting list on the sly i would have been on the Newcastle one.

Then completely out of the blue they rang me from Durham, asked if i had got my 2:1, which i had, then offered me a place in clearing (automatic unconditional firm). I didn't have an interview for Durham, they usually interview independently from Newcastle so it was very strange indeed.

I didn't get any offers out of the four so i couldn't firm or insurance anything lol

There was really nothing that swung it for me, i was an unremarkable candidate in all respects imo (not to mention the epic fail interview).

I guess im just lucky, even if this is the first lucky thing that’s ever happened to me. I’m not complaining though!

Thats great news, will probably meet you come october.

I think probably quite a few peeps who got offers from durham may have missed grades e.t.c or not chosen it as their firm. So as a result spaces where left.So they might have asked newcastle for candidates who just missed out on a place on the newcastle course and offered them the final few spaces. This way it would save them a lot of time.

I remember last year i think warwick held an additional selection centre after degree results where published but because a level results are published a few months later for 5 year courses to do something like this so close to the start date of the course would be difficult.

Anyways im sure you don't really care about the practicalities of the situation. lol

Congratulations again

I know for a fact the new expected grades at A-Level students are expected to get are diffcult to achieve and unfortunately some people dont get the grades. That is why last year we had a lot of Grads and a few shy of 100. x
