Anyone interested in updating the Recommended Textbooks?

Hello All. A couple of years ago we compiled a list of the textbooks thought to best complement the preclinical medicine course at UDQC.
However, I am told that things have changes slightly in the three years since I was at the university, so if anyone can think of any alterations that we should make to the recommended reading lists please note them down and I'll see about altering the lists.

Not really an alteration/change, however, a suggestion

Durham recommend:
McMinn's Color Atlas of Human Anatomy (Paperback) (£31.99 new on Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-lis...&condition=new)

However, I have found Color Atlas of Anatomy: A Photographic Study of the Human Body (released 2006) much better, with CT/MRI images and some surface anatomy (eg upper limb). Its also cheaper - I ordered from www.readmore.co.uk - price £24 (There are 4 copies of the 5th edition in the library)

The only advantage McMinn's has is the CD which comes with it, which allows you to build up a body image - adding in the various layers in a 3D computer image, however, Durham now have a 3D dissector thing which is better

Langmans's. Medical Embryology. T.W. Sadler, is now the recommended text for Embryology (by the lecturer, Its what the leturer takes his pic's from). Is not an essential buy though. x

eh Johns lectures use a lot of pictures from Carlsons Embryology? Also not essential but ECG made easy is soooooo helpful!!!!

whoops! think I put the wrong book in here, Silver is right. ECG made easy is a good one. There is also Pulmonary Physiology (Can't remember who by) is very good. x
