Having picked at random week five from this semester, which in fairness looks maybe slightly busier than normal in terms of non lecture based things, and quieter in terms of lectures.

11 hours of lectures
2 hours of dissection
5 hours of placement (complete and utter waste of an afternoon)
5 hours of other what nots, ie tutorially things.
3 hours worth of guided studies

and those lectures will have taken about 10-15 hours to write up, and if you are keen one should try to revise past bits of work.

If very keen most of the lectures have half an hour or so of pre reading to do, and the other bits need preparing for in advance.

I tend to get rather behind on writing up the lectures as a result. Hence now spending every waking moment either in the library or the medschool.

The thing is I don't have a scientific background.I don't have A-levels,worked for a bit and now studying the diploma and work as a HCA on the bank.
My concern is how long it would take me to top my diploma up to a degree so I think maybe I should just go for the access course as that seems more like the direct route.Choices choice choices eh?

Which uni do you go to?
How many times did you apply?
Hey,

I go to Swansea Uni - I applied once and got lucky I think.

A science background isn't essential at all - even though most unis like you to have science A-levels, there are plenty of people in my year who haven't done any science for years, since their GCSEs in some cases, and they're doing fine. And the useful, applicable content of A-level biology is worth squat. You'll cover it all in your first few months, and a hell of a lot more on top. But like Doc Skin said, if you have good A-levels you'll have a much greater choice of places to apply to.

You have a lot of choice though.. I'm really not sure what you should go for. Do all the research you can is the best advice I think..
