OSCEs: Presenting your findings

Hi people,

Hoping to pick some of your fine brains for a word of advice?

I've got OSCE finals coing up and one thing I've always struggled with is when I've finished examining the patient adn the examiner asks me to present my findings .

For some reason this is the point that I always seem to develop complete brain freeze so I was wondering if any of you fine people might have a nice framework or a method of answering such questions to fall back on so as not to look like a complete gimp.

All advice/comments/abuse gratefully received.

Ta in advance.

Which university are you doing them at?

A quick bit of advice, remember it is all about looking confident. When you present hold you steph behind your back with both hands stops you fidgetting. Do not worry about looking really slick. The simple way is to go through the findings as in the same order as you did the examination.

In advance prepare a couple of lines of summary for each case you expect. For example for rheumatoid you may say:

This gentleman has rheumatoid arthritis, this is evidenced by ulnar deviation of the fingers, bow stringing of the tendons etc, etc.

I hope that helps but if you want more in detail help please PM me.
