I cannot give you any figures, but i will say this. I intercalated after 3rd year. 4th year was tough, but it is all specialties in Leeds anyway, so my forgotten basic medicine knowledge was relatively unimportant. However, now in final year, and it is a bit of a joke. Its been 2.5 years since i did the general stuff and most of that information seems to have drained out of my head. However, it does appear to slowly be coming back.
That said, you do find that random things you learnt during your BSc are useful as the occasional trump card. The consultants cant really figure it out: "so let me get this straight... you know nothing about neck of femur fractures but can tell me, in intimate detail, how osteoclasts work?! thats ****ing useful"
