iBSc Sponsorship

Even before starting medical school I wanted to intercalate, originally I wanted to intercalate in healthcare ethics and law at the University of Manchester, but in the past six months, I've had my heart set on orthopaedic science at UCL. Obviously its a financial commitment (and a great career investment) and I was wondering if anybody was aware of any organisations like Wellcome, the RCS, etc who are likely to sponsor an intercalation in orthopaedic science or any others?

If anyone has any experience or any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Nick.

My views do not represent UCLMS or the University of Manchester.

There are certainly many organisations who offer grants and bursaries for intercalated BScs. The Wolfson Foundation and Arthritis Reasearch Campaign definately do as I know people in my year who got funding from them.

At UCL, it tends to be that you are approached for funding rather than you go looking for it yourself (i.e. it is based on your academic performace). Not sure how it works at Manchester, but you might want to ask your med school first.
