Transfers?
Hey everyone. I was just wondering if it is possible to transfer from one medical school (in the UK) to another (in the UK)?

If your school doesn't have an agreed transfer policy (Oxbridge-London, St Andrews) then transfers can only really be done if you have extenuating circumstances. Speak to someone in your med school administration, and at the school that you want to transfer to. Chances are slim though, and it's not enough that you simply don't like the course/area (as this shows poor planning in medical school choice).

What sort of academic reasons?
Not getting on with PBL, as an example, probably wouldn't be good enough a reason for them letting you transfer, neither is not liking the city.

I think it depends. If you can come up with a good reason as to why you cannot reasonably complete your studies at uni X, and you are in good academic standing (passing everything), many universities would give you a hearing. However, it would also depend upon course compatibility.
I know of successful transfers for the following reasons:
personal ill-health (of serious and medically certified nature)
family ill-health (again of serious nature and documentation supplied by GP etc)
Unpredicted change in financial circumstances (for this one, the student was a merit plus student).

moreover, it also depends on you your new uni aing a place available (ie aving ad peeple leave their course), and on your old place being able to replace you.
maintaining funding, see, keeps med skool staff in their jobs.
also sum noodle wil say you need to be an outstanding candidate in the top 1% - ignore em!

Agree you don't need to be top 1% but it surely won't hurt to mention it if you are..............
