Apparntly student experience symptoms of disease that they are studying...i found thia quit interesting as i a currenly preparing for my physiology final and am currently studying the resp. system...also one of the main reasons i visited my GP was becos i had trouble breathing at certain times of the day...

dont worry about it, last week i was convinced i had hodgekins, (which i know i dont, it was more stress knots and the sniffles) i think its a pretty common side effect of studying medicine, ignorence truely is bliss it seems.
but better safe than sorry i suppose.
(sorry about the spelling just got out an exam and my brain is fried!)

I'm really bad for this, thought I had rheumatic fever a while ago and always seem to think I have lupus. Had various cancers and things too, it's perfectly normal.

As you get further on, it does start to settle down and you actually gain the ability to diagnose yourself and sort out your own management. GP consultations usually become very very bief indeed.

I had an appointment this mornin and the new reg at surgery spent 15 mins trying to put me off medicine.... hmm nothing like job satisfaction - either that or he wasnt convinced its the right career path for someone with children and migraines

I don't think it's limited to medical students. My Nan's got this "family health" book and is constantly diagnosing herself with bizzare and obscure illnesses. Hehe. Too much information isn't always a good thing!

I had Gallstones over the Christmas holiday. We'd just done our Gastro block.... even got an Ultrasound done just to prove it was all in my mind (my mind is a powerful thing which can create intense pain it seems!)
The GP consultation was pretty short. I said "I don't really think I've got gallstones, but I have all the symptoms and signs" and two minutes later she said "Yeah, you do don't you?" and sent me to the hospital....

Radiology disagreed, in the nicest way they could.
Haven't had even a twinge since.

Can't wait for Neurology this coming September.....

This isn't quite the same but I keep getting paranoid when we test on ourselves in practical classes! One week I'm convinced my kidneys are failing cos I supposedly have proteinuria; the next I'm being told by my lab partner that I should have fainted by now cos my bp is 80/50! I'm sure it can all be put down to experimental error because there's blatantly nothing wrong with me, but it does make you worry abit!

Crap, it's 5th year. How did that happen?

    SSA: Done.
CBM: Coming up. Time to dust off the tweed jacket.
