Do you publish basic medical science stuff?
I've written reviews on:
1. Role of reactive nitrogen species in acute inflammation
2. Role of the tachykinins in acute inflammation and burn injuries
Haven't done anything with them yet, but been meaning to, time and all that...
Is the plan to publish in the JRSM or a student version a la StudentBMJ?
This was my last published review, the above are in a similar style:

At the bedside emergency no one was ever heard to cry out 'Thank goodness, here comes the clinical pharmacologist'.

Ok I worry that you've not been reading the post properly.
Email me a copy and I'll do what I can with both pieces of work. You need to check the JRSM website for the author guidelines and format your article accordingly. We're aiming to get articles published in there, not a student version at this stage.
Once i've got an email from you in my inbox, we can talk more.
Jim.

I can't, as it says in the post title give any provisional go-aheads of anything.
We will look at the article in whatever format its sent to me. We'll suggest changes and pass it forward to the JRSM if we think its good enough. I'll even do my best to convince the editorial board that the work is good to publish... but what I cannot do is stick my nexk out and give any kind of an indication as to what the final outcome will be!
The extracts looked well written and interesting. Send me the full article and we can go from there.
Any further questions, we can discuss them by email: jim.blackburn@doctors.org.uk
Thanks.

Is the whole publication thing still on, and does it only apply to JRSM, or to other RSM journals like Tropical Doctor as well? I've got a short literature review which would be more suited to the likes of Trop Doct.
Cheers.

hi Jim,
wrote a roughly 3000 wd ethics article last yr that i was considering to try and get published in the ethics section of the BMJ last year but it needed too much cutting and a new case study finding. If you rekon it would be appropriate let me know at ugm2m2ab@leeds.ac.uk and i'll send u a copy!

Hi everyone,
My apologies for such a long pause since i last updated those of you who've replied to this thread.
At the moment I'm sorry to report I've had to put the project on hold: there have been a number of technical issues within the RSM/JRSM preventing me from taking this project further at this stage.
Thanks for showing such enthusiasm in getting yourselves published; if it becomes possible to make some further progress with the idea I'll be the first to let you all know.
Any of you who submitted articles to me: these were excellent pieces of writing I felt, however I was again unable to take them any further - again this relates to the same technical issues as above. I also understand that in some cases one or two of you have emailed me to follow up articles: I'm not aware of receiving anything to my inbox although my overly strict junk mail software may be in part responsible for that.
Please accept both my apologies for not being able to take this further at this time and my respect and gratitude for allowing me a glimpse into the excellent quality of student writing that is out there.
Best wishes,
Jim.
