Basically, MBBS is the usual name for the medical degree in the UK, standing for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and once you have your MBBS you are a provisionally registered house officer (PRHO) and can bear the title Dr. The MBBS takes 5 years (or 6 with an intercalated BSc). It is equivalent to the MD in the US and some European countries, but note that in order to practice Medicine in the US you need USMLE qualifications, as they don't recognise other countries' qualifications.
