Cardiff is definitely in my top choices, really hoping for an interview. Btw could the OP fix the thread title?

Yay Cardiff FTW!

I would gladly spend another 5 years here, although at risk of becoming bankrupt I have to admit it is bottom of my choices (grad applicant innit).Swansea GEM 2011, yay!!!

Woo hoo Caerdydd!
Anyone know why Cardiff got ranked really low in the university guides?
And aren't the differences in standards marginal anyway as all students have to reach pretty much the same standard wherever you are?Bristol medic

Hmmm. You shouldn't be really using rankings to determine which medical school you want to go to. Even though I look the rankings by 'The Times' from time to time they're not a great indicator for which uni to go to. Besides, the difference in their overall scores is negligible. That is, the uni at the bottom of the rankings has a score of about 96.3 out of 100. Which is less than 4 points diference between the uni at the top. The spread of scores for med schools is much less compared to like Business for example (which goes down to about 55/100). The teaching quality is high at all the med schools and is tightly regulated by the GMC. However, the levels of research at the uni do vary.

I agree with McWiseguy
I personally don't think that those rankings should be the thing that makes you decide where to apply. Hmm.. maybe have a look at them. But surely the location and course are more important? Yes use them to look at the differences in research levels, but they are not the be all and end all.
Does anyone know if we will get an acknowledgement from Cardiff? or they just contact for interview?
