Graduate Applicants
People who are on the course in Cardiff now, do you know how many graduates there are in your year?
Also does anyone know how are graduates evaluated at interview, if at all any differently from A level students?

I would guess that there are about 40 graduate students in my year (out of ~240). They all have science degrees, dentistry degrees or another degree (and done a foundation year). Obviously Swansea is 100% post-grads.
I did not have a degree - I joined med school straight from Sixth Form.
I don't know how the graduates are admitted to med school to be perfectly honest, all I can tell you is that I have not interviewed any graduates.Last edited by welshmed; 11-03-2005 at 11:56 PM.

I am a graduate and I know that the uni's policy is 10% graduates on the course here (year figures are 310). There are approximately 30 graduates here on the course with me - maybe a few more.
The interview policy is the same - you need to achieve a minimum of BBC at a level and then it is pretty much the same as a level. You need to achieve a 2.i in your degree and have to be able to gain a guarantor to say that you will have enough money to fund your way through medical school.
At interview I was asked slightly different q's as they were based around my degree etc. I was asked why i didnt apply straight from school - but thats pretty much standard.
Being a grad on a 5 year course really bears no significance as far as I have experienced.
All the best - any other q's. just ask.
