Residency in Canada

I am a UK grad, looking to do my residency in Canada (probably in ophthalmology).

Could anyone tell me how easy/difficult it is to get into a Canada residency programme as a Brit?
Also, is residency training run-through? i.e. by comppleting it you become a consultant?

I am sorry, I don't have an answer to your question. I am a Canadian starting medicine in UK this Sept. Was wondering why you aren't choosing to do your residency in UK? I am just a little concerned because I will be an international, you think we would get the FY1/2 placements?
