Maybe they thought my application would be strong even without a high BMAT score, and so offered me an interview anyway...

...Crosses fingers so hard to they point that they snap.

(Or of course, they just do it as routine and realise the BMAT isn't usually the make-or-break part of the application.)

    Yup, you're right.

Cambridge interview nearly all their applicants (the only ones they don't interview are those that have absolutely no chance in the World of getting a place.)

But hell, I'm not complaining! =P

Good luck getting an interview at Oxford!

yeah but just be careful of the unis which want As in english/maths/science.

I would advise you to avoid cambridge/oxford since they really love GCSEs and the average student has about 6/7 A*s I believe, so you will be at a very bad disadvantage. However you may be able to turn it around with a very high BMAT, but that is very risky, so again, avoid oxbridge.

well cambridge looks at your application as a whole and they're the only uni with access to your UMS marks so your good marks should give you an advantage, but as I said, your GCSEs really let you down so even with your good marks, you'll still be taking quite a risk. So I can't say whether you'll get an interview or not, but cambridge interviews around 80% of applicants with some colleges even interviewing 90% so you should have a good chance at getting an interview but unlike most other unis, getting an interview does not necessarily mean that you are among the best applicants since they still look at your application as a whole when handing out offers.

But please, don't go for cambridge just because of the name and prestige because then it would show how little research you have one into medicine.

Do you think that Cambridge (St Catherines) accept canidates from alternative education with lowish cambridge IGCSE grades but fantastic A-Levels (with all of the other stuff they want - BMAT, interview etc) which are done through a college. -- St Catherines College says that most of their candidates have low GCSE's but have shown potential.
