Question Is GCSE a must in order to be regarded as local student in CamMed??

    Greetings!

I am now doing my AS course with 5subjects, and aiming for the Medicine degree of Cambridge...

I do know there is a restriction for oversea students (like 7.5% right?). so I would like to be regarded as a local student (ofcoz, save some money for my parents as well! ).

I am not born in UK, but I am holding a British Passport. And by the time I get into uni, I will have been living in England for 3years (I have been to England one year ago)

Provided that I may have 5A in AS/A2, the thing concerns me is that, I didnt take the UK-GCSE. Instead, I have a pretty good qualification in the HKCEE (somekind of Hong Kong GCSE), which should equivalent to 8A* UK-GCSE. Yet, when I looked into the Cambridge Medicine website, it states that a GCSE qualification is essential. Is it really the actual case? Is there any chance I can be regarded as a local student without a GCSE qualification??

One more thing, if I re-sit the GCSE, which combination of subjects would be more desirable??

    Do appreciate for any helps!

You have a British Passport, therefore you play British rates.
GCSEs are up there because most people will have done them. Call up admissions and confirm they accept your qualifications.
