Good catch on erythropoietin mark!!We've only just done the kidneys in the second year (pretty solid). They asked it in a really obscure way as well, considering its not as relevant in hypoxia, but more so in those with renal failure, as a lack can cause anaemia...Mega impressed you got that one!

Had my 3 interviews, all academic, in Caius yesterday. I thought that went alright, actually they asked me really different stuff - general (eg Ohm's law) and so specific like really complex nucleotic reactions! they tell u everywhere that they are not trying to catch u out, but i am afraid that depends on the interviewer! generally they are REALLY pleasant people and u cannot tell at all how it went. the place is gorgeous, altho i expected it would be more of a museum-like architectural digest but the King's chapel... is breath-taking!
anyone who had their int in caius - lets talk!

At Downing they didnt ask me anything much higher than AS level, does that mean that they thought i was a bit of a thicky?

Fellow Caius interviewee
Did you get the Ohm's law leading to the pressure eqaution question too then Martina? Must agree with you on the architecture though from what I heard from the people who stayed there overnight the dorms are rather small. The interviewers were mostly nice but very enigmatic (especially my first interviewer R Carpenter) but talking to the present students they say you just have to get used to that.

I had my interview on Monday and there weren't that many scientific-based questions. There were a couple of CPR-based questions but weren't too intense. From watching the video of the mock interview, i was expecting something a little bit more harder, but it was mainly why do u wanna become a doc?? why here?? kinda stuff

09-12-2005, 03:55 PM #16i think maybe it depends on the interviewer's style. i got why med why cambridge and stuff, but also some sciency stuff. most were Alevel - level questions, but not like directly the kind of stuff we do. just using a level knowledge to solve non a level styled questions. got a couple of harder questions, but very few.

I had my interviews in emmanuel on tuesday. The first one wasnt too good, my physics is a little rusty and for some reason those were the questions i decided to answer! The second one was really good, i was quite pleased with that one but i still doubt i'll get in. Oh well, at least i tried!

Sorry to sound really neurotic but does choosing physics style questions in a medical interview put you at a disadvantage.
In my first interview I was given a choice of 4 objects to talk about: a CD, a brain (model of one), an organic molecule (couldn't tell what it was) and a panflute. I chose the CD more or less at an impulse and now I'm worried that I should have chosen the brain especially since my interveiwer had written a book on neurophysiology. Am I right to be worried or does that not make any difference?University of Cambridge - Gonville & Caius CollegeAll comments are my personal opinion only and in no way represent the college
