It is difficult for Scottish graduates funding wise to even consider GEM courses. I know that it wasn't an option for me, so I applied to all 5 year courses in Scotland. Until they bring in a GEM in Scotland I think that is how it will stay for the majority of us!!

Yeh, I went to uni in Scotland (first time!) and I know it's difficult certainlyf or some courses for Scots to get considered by English uni's - I think it's because they are retarded when it comes to interpreting your standard grades/highers...what a way to make the Scots hate us even more :-) Best of luck with your app - oh, i see ur already there!

Its not so much the grades, its the financial side. It would of cost me more to do a 4 year course in England than it will to do 6 years in Scotland.. If money had not been an issue, then I would of applied to a GEM and come down south!

    Hi,

I'm trying to decide between Glasgow and St Andrews as my final choice. Glasgow would have been my first choice but with UKCAT of 623 I've concentrated on requirements for other unis first. However as I live and have a flat in Glasgow I'm struggling to leave it out!. For both Glasgow and St Andrews I would have to re-take chem and biology this year but just wondering if I'm even in with a chance?
Any advice on which uni to put as my final choice?

Forgot to say too that I work as a dietitian (8yrs experience). Not sure if St Andrews take NHS experience into account?

With your UKCAT unless things change drastically, you wont even get an interview for Glasgow. I had 635 for the last 2 years and never got interview for this reason. St Andrews like NHS experience, they gave me a place with 3 years as a nurse. My plan is to do my clinicals at Glasgow, so will end up back there in 3 years anyway!
Oh and not sure if I would consider this, but I know at least 2 students that commute to St Andrews from Edinburgh on a daily basis...

Thanks Polldoll, so might be in with a chance with St Andrews then.

I would need to sit Chem and Biology as external candidate. Just to check if you know what to do with putting in predicted grades?!
