I got an interview last year with a not v good UKCAT and what was a pretty poor personal PS looking back. Was all I did this and this, no reflection... also I hadn't done any voluntary work.
So I think my reference and good GCSEs must have made up the difference for me to get an interview.
They seem to expect really good performance in interview tho; me and a friend both got rated 'good' or better in all the different parts of the interview (good, very good and excellent were the +ve scores) but neither of us got an offer... both were on the reserve list though :S

    Thumbs up

655 UKCAT (below 600 on two sections, above 700 on two sections)...phone interview went relatively well I thought...ended up getting an offer (which I am firming!)!

I like how the UKCAT is being tentatively utilized until they find a better correlation with med school performance.

I know, it's a strange test because, like you say FCM, there has been no correlation between UKCAT score and med school performance. That said, the medical schools need something to distinguish academically between 200 canditates who all have 3 A grades at A level!

Unlike the US, whose SAT is still treated as the god all/be all of admissions tests, EVEN THOUGH it hardly has any correlation with uni performance.
