If you could give an award to anyone for an advance in any aspect of health care or medical science, who would it be? Me: Aneurin Bevan immediately springs to mind.....continue in vein... but also I think Watson and Crick and the radiographer whose work they used to discover DNAs structure is another massive leap forward....

None of them are doctors, so why medicine? Me:.... um, well I've never really thought about being a politician! Repeat of my reasons for medicine them some balls about healthcare being multidisciplinary and without advances by researchers doctors wouldn't have anything to treat patients with!

Read anything of interest in news? Me: Autism linked to a gene on X chromosome, hence men get it more often than women.

What is autism then? Me: Behaviour difficulty causing difficulty in social situations etc. some would call it the extreme male psyche! (Got a laugh at that one phew!)

Something along lines of is communication between doc and leper important? Me: The usual twaddle about how integral to the role...

How have you improved your comms skills? Me: Working in hospital wiping bums, weighing pee and talking to patients etc. (I work as a nursing auxiliary)

Is this your second application to medical school? Yup
Committed then? Yup

What will you do if you don't get an offer? Think this is an interesting one cos I've often been told oh say to them you'd reapply cos you're essentially gagging for a place at their medical school. BUT I didn't feel this was honest or believable as I've already taken a year out, so...
Me: I'm not sure if I should be telling you this but I have an offer from a medical school. Bristol is my first choice and I would love to come here, but if I didn't get in I would take the offer I have as I think it best to get on with my training. I don't think another year out would benefit me.

Sooooo to conclude...... Bristol interview was as I had been told, standard questions that u can find online in some form, but they will probe to check u know the stuff u spout! Interestingly they didn't ask anything about my personal statement, but a friend found the opposite :S
I'd say they value honest and original answers (e.g. what I'd do if unsuccessful) rather than usual guff.

No news of interview or rejection. Clearly is going to be a rejection! Why do they have to drag a rejection without interview out for 6 months!!

I just spoke to the admissions office and they said that they'll be sending invites (emails) for the 26th out by the end of the week! She said they will interview about 70 people, but there are a lot more than 70 people left who haven't heard anything... eek!

I tried ringing today but there was no answer!
I was also going to ask them whether they're adding any more interview dates after the 26th, did she mention that the 26th was the definite last date???

when i talked to her she said that there was one more interview date left which is the 26th. so i highly doubt there are any more people but if they are interviewing 70 still then that is quite a large number..! i am optimistic although i am kinda pissed that they are not letting us know already cause i am coming from the turks and caicos i have to fly in and i would really like to know when i have to book my $3000 flight!

yeh, i did ask about other interview dates. she said it hadn't been discussed and that it is possible, but unlikely. she also said there are a 'few hundred' people left who haven't heard... So don't get your hopes up too much!

wow, the Turks and Caicos look sooooo beautiful! i'm very jealous! you could send them an email/give them a call and let them know your situation - maybe admissions will empathise with you and try and make it a priority to let you know.
