Just for your interest, I spoke to one of the admissions tutors a while back and he mentioned the best answer he'd ever received when asking an applicant the infamous "what would you do with a million pounds" question. They responded by quoting some published data from the BMJ or similar which went into how a million would be best spent in terms of return on investment, i.e. the greatest cost-savings in terms of man hours or inpatient costs vs how much would be invested. For example simvastatin is dirt cheap, however the number needed to treat is something like 1 in 100 over 3 years in order for a SINGLE cardiovascular event to be prevented. You could go on to compare this to other pharmaceuticals, that although more expensive and therefore fewer patients may be treated for the one million, have a much lower NNT and therefore would save the NHS more money in the long run. I'm sure there's plenty of published data out there that would be able to put numbers on that in terms of return on investment etc. Might be an idea for you keen-o's to look into just in case this question does pop up
What I guess I'm trying to get across through all my waffle is that medics love epidemiology and evidence-based medicine. If you can show you understand this concept when answering a question like this, even if you have not read any particular studies to cite individual examples, the admission tutors will be mightily impressed!Final year Bristol medic

Wales - Im pretty sure you have to be interviewed for an offer but you can rng up admissions to confirm about your situation. There aren't many dates left: Friday 12 February, Monday 22 February, Monday 1 March, Thursday 18 March, and Friday 26 March. So taking into account they give around 2 weeks notice they're only about 3 dates left
