2010 Applicants

I thought I'd start one up for BSMS as I hadn't seen one yet...

Hi, I'm Katie and I was part of the BrightMed programme this year at BSMS & that's what made me want to apply.

I'm applying with A2 (and an extra AS this year) predictions of: A*A*Aa
UKCAT average: 692.5
GCSEs: A*A*AAAAAABBB

I've already got a set of A levels in arts-type subjects and was really unhappy, didn't do well, so decided to join a different college immediately after finishing at the first. I went back into science because it was my passion at school & I have no idea why I didn't just take it way back when!
So to sum things up, I'm a pretty unique candidate and that's pretty much been frowned upon by every uni I've emailed (except the four I'm applying to...)

My choices are:
Nottingham
Soton
BSMS
Peninsula

Who else out there is applying?

I would have thought going back and taking all science A-levels again would be exactly the kind of dedication they were looking for...oh well, picky picky eh. I'm Ben, I'm on a gap year at the moment, I applied for deferred entry 2010 last year but didnt get the offers I wanted so applying again for direct entry...

The lucky four this year are:

BSMS
Edinburgh
Dundee
Newcastle

So at the moment, OP, that makes 2 of us, let's hope there are more otherwise its going to be a very dull freshers week xD

Do you think it is of benefit to do a medical placement on your gap year? Have any of you done anything like that?

Yeah definitely I think it is...I did a placement at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh before I sent my application off. I was looking at going abroad and doin something...but its so damn expensive. But whatever you can do...its gotta be good to talk about at interview

Did they say that interviews are given out in batches in November and March?

What i know is BSMS is a medical school, thats what I think.

Grades are:
GCSEs - 7 A*s & 3 As
AS- 5 As
UKCAT - 655 average.

My choices are BSMS, Southampton, Cardiff and Bristol!

Hi there. My mate has just started at BSMS this year and he said it's pretty cool there.
