    Importance of BMAT

As you know, every university/med school who does the BMAT test regards its importance differently, so i thought, it might be helpful if there si thread about it, =).

    General BMAT Information
    BMAT score explanations
BMAT Test Preparation | University Admissions Tests from Cambridge Assessment

***(?) A score of 17/35 in section 1 would get you a score of 5.1 and in section 2 a score of 11/27 would get you a score of 5.0.

    List of unis:

    University of Cambridge
    ---Avg BMAT score: ~20 (?)
---Some colleges give out interviews before BMAT results are out.
------They may discuss your essay to section 3 in a interview.
    [more info is needed!]

    Imperial College London (IC)
---They do not use BMAT a lot in their selection of candidates as IC recently started to use the BMAT system.
---Usually a score of 16-17+ is quite safe to be shortlisted for interview, they don't place a high emphasise on BMAT as they just started to use them recently.
---Imperial rank candidates by BMAT before they check anything else
    [more info is needed!]

    University of Oxford [medical school]
---Applicants are short listed for interview is based on a GCSE to BMAT scale (with BMAT carrying approximately teice the weight of GCSEs).
GCSE to BMAT scale; short listing info
---Average BMAT score per applicant: ~20 (?)
---They may discuss your essay to section 3 in a interview.
    [more info is needed!]

    Royal Veterinary College (RVC)
    [more info needed!]

    University College London (UCL)
---They don't take the BMAT score into account heavily when selecting applicants for interviews.
--- Getting a score of 19(5,5,9) will guaranteed an interview.
    [more info is needed!]

    Other BMAT info:
---It is a 2 hour, 3 sectioned test.
    ---Maximum marks for
    section 1(60min): 9,
    section 2(30min): 9,
    section 3(30min): 15.
---The average score will be given a mark of roughly 5(for section 1 and 2).

UCL has a BMAT interview guarantee doesn't it? I think last year was 19 with 4.5 in s1/s2 but has possibly gone up, see website or spencer wells

I think thise 20 in the bmat estimates are high, especially when talking abt applicants not places. Even in places i'd argue lower, BMAT has a very low spread of results...

Thanks for the extra info everyone,

    @Singh.Simran:
I see, well, I'm not going to add your point about UCL for now bcos it's still not certain.
And regarding the avg for BMAT, nobody has any idea about the average but for successful Oxbridge applicants, most have scored over 20, you do get the occassional 17s, 18s nevertheless.

It's certain. I got an email from 'em saying so.

19 on BMAT and meeting grade requirements score you an automatic interview at UCL.
Mad genius or just plain mad? Only time will tell.
