well first off... i mean i know it sounds obvious.... but get some work experience. Go work in your local hospital for a week and shadow doctors..... even porters so that you can talk to the patients and see what medicine as a career is really like. And improve your personal statement. Try and make it really show why you want to do medicine and that it is the only thing you have ever wanted to do. Say that staying back a year and doing extra work experience has allowed you to mature in yourself and has also reinforced the fact that medicine is your vocation. Your grades need to be AAB at least and really A A in chem and bio if your resitting. But you could resit those in january. Make sure you definately check that the uni's you apply to accept re-sit candidates because not all of them do.... if you got an interview at liverpool you must be doing something right it is just a case or refining everything. And make sure you get someone with uni application experience... e.g. a teacher.... to read over it and give you any help

Like Hendo said, seriously get some good work experience. Practical experience will show that you've actually taken an extra step to improve your knowledge of the medical field. What would be even better is if you can get exprerience abroad, i dnt know why but med schools really like that. In my interview they asked me about 100 questions on my 3 month placement abroad. Reason being; work experience in countries in asia/ africa etc usually let you get a lot more "hands on experience" and you get to see alot more in terms of disease's etc. They actually treat you almost like your a 2nd/3rd medical student...seriously.
or Do something over a long period of time-like voluntary work at a local hospital over a period o 7/8 mnths etc

Your grades aren't bad, infact for A-leves their really good, but like u sed mst med schools look for A's. Have you thought of doing an acess course? i know of one that Kings college have, its a 6 year course for those who didnt quite get the grades. However, i think they require you to be living/ studying in acertain part of london....check it out. There must be other uni's who do similar courses....southampton do one-its really good course!
If all else fails you could do as Yiou says and try for postgrad medicine.

anyhow, good luck i really hope that evrything works out 4 u.
