GCSE requirements for graduates applying for 5-year

I'm thinking of applying to Bham 5-year course as a graduate, my GCSEs are good (4A*s 1A) but I only have five due to illness. I know they say they 'relax' the 8A* requirement for grads, but does anyone know what exactly they mean by this?!

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hey arh88,

The best way to answer this question is to e-mail the admissions tutor at birmingham ( it was professor Lotte when i applied a few years back). List your relevant academic qualifications and experience and ask whether your application would be considered based on them.

They usually reply reasonably quickly and let you know whether your application is likely to be considered or not.

It may take some time to do, but its worth it because you get a clear message from the person who makes the candidate selection. It also flags up your name to them so that they are aware you are interested in making an application. If the response is negative - you have lost nothing and you invest your time tailoring your application towards one of the universities that have given you positive feedback.

    i hope this helps.

    Thanks for the advice.

I tried that a few weeks ago and they wouldn't give be a straight answer :-( It's not the same person anymore I don't think.

They just said 'yes, we relax our requirements slightly for graduates'. I don't want to ask again because they might think I'm annoying!!

arh88 - is there any way you can put in a 'thing' to say you had proiblems were ill? They take that muchos into account dont they if you have an official thing - like from your school - with that on it?

Hey thanks, but I decided to not apply to Bham since it's too risky, and I'm going to email all the unis at my time off application to explain. Best I can do I guess!
