    GEC applicants in 3rd year

    Hey,

just wondering if the GECs that managed to get interviews who hadn't already got their degree, i.e in their final year when applying, could make themselves known?

I know for a fact Birmingham do take those with predicted firsts, although it must be free of all reasonable doubt, and I just wanted to know what your experiences were with the process.

    Thanks

Hey, you're right that they sometimes take on people with predicted firsts but as far as I know this is very rare, a few people per year at the most. But, if you were to phone the admissions tutor he would say that you need to have you're degree already. I think if you have impeccable A levels and have done well in your degree to date, and you're comfortable taking the risk of being rejected purely on the basis that you don't have your degree already, then go for it. Being from oxford/cambridge apparently helps people get straight in.

umm logically Oxbridge applicants tend to be academically stronger, hence they may be more likely to be considered? Particularly at Birmingham taking into consideration their entry requirments. I know this isn't true anyway from speaking to various staff members and students.

I agree, just 8 A*s at GCSE and 3As at A-level plus a predicted 1st... then, depending on the competition, I imagine a candidate would have a chance.
Since I hit all these I'll hopefully get to show them what (else) I've got

    Thanks!

hey there, i don't think they will accept with predicted first. i applied in my third year of uni, having got first in 1st and 2nd year and still got rejected. i applied after i graduated with a first and i got in. also i think they really prefer you to have a year of work experience after graduating, which i've now got x
