Same here - I wish the rest of the unis were as fast to respond as Birmingham - I keep searching throught the post now holding my breath

Does anyone know if we're supposed to bring anything to the interview? like evidence of work experience/results etc.?

Is anyone's on the 26th of October?
When I went on the open day they said not to worry too much about the interviews- they said that last year there were 900 interviews for 800 offers which sounds encouraging:-D
Do you reckon there will be anything about current medical news?
    Hanx
Is that true! Did they specifically mention that in this year's open day? It does sound promising indeed, fingers crossed!

Hey guys, im a first year medic, and applying takes so much out of you. It really is worth researching about the campus (1st years live in uni residences, 2nd years + livein mostly selly oak, campus is picturesque blah blah, just say you like the campus, and the Barnes (Med school library) is useful to have on site rather than the main uni library) (I had never visited before the day of interview !!)
    They asked me why birmingham.
They asked me about what i like reading (i said twilight and chris lote nagged me a bit about that)
A "good-cop/bad-cop" situation happened in most peoples interviews at brum. One person throws question upon question at you until another person can see you sweating and puts a stop to it... its soo cruel!!

So... what i had to know:::
I was soooo glad i'd been to medlink because my answers from these questions came from it..

"What happens after you graduate med-school".... on about F1/F2
"How long does it take to become A GP/Surgeon"
    "Who are surgeons assessed by?"
Talk about a medical issue that has interested you.. "I talked about the development/ethicAL issues of totipotent stem cells (using embryo cells to create any tissue in the body)

    Hope this helps,
be polite, seem happy to be there
I asked if older years brought cars to uni.
    Think about a question

Here is some quick info about the course:
1st/2nd years, most time spent in medical school
1 day every fortnight spent in GP office
Most days are 9-5 or 10-6. sometimes 9-6!!
Med school cafe is decently (not cheaply) priced, and the food looks good. The drinks/snacks are cheaper there than in the vending machines!!!
6 modules in first (and i think 2nd year)
    Molecules to Man
    Cell communication endocrinology and pharmacology
    Neurones and Synapses
    Digestive System
    Muscles Joints and Movements
    something else... skipped my mind
    (do your own research!!)

Medicine in society on wednesdays (lectures and small group teaching)
Integrated Problems (group presentations on a given case study)

40 hours contact time per module + 40 hours per module own study time (gulp, should get started!!!)

DONT MISS MEDSOC FRESHERS STUFF IF YOU GET IN, SOOO much more fun than the normal freshers thing!!!

    Pob Lwc from wales
    (good luck)
