In some ways it will actually work in your favour tho - you get weeks allocated to self selected activities, which pretty much translate themselves into half terms! The timetables also have fewer hours (although still a fair amount!), and there are a fewer number of exams you have to sit (although I think there might be more modules you have to pass). Every other thursday when we weren't doing Firm1, we had to do "Integrated Problems", which was basically a day of PBL - treats!! Throughout the year there are 6 biological sciences modules, and two medicine in society ones.
Anyway, you will find all this out for yourself in freshers week, and this year every student should be getting a "Mum" or "Dad" i.e. a second year who you can talk to about any problems you might have. Most of them should be meeting with you in the Thursday of Freshers week.
Also here's an old piece of advice we were gien before we started: ask one of the second years to lend you their old anatomy folder!!
