Banking
I don't know whether any of you are interested in this, but we'll all need some sort of bank account for student loans money and obviously, just for day to day life.
Does any one think a particular student bank account is better than the rest?
I think Barclays and Lloyds TSB have branches at the University centre."Don't get high on your own supply."

So does Natwest.
Natwest were always completely overwhelmed whenever I walked by, whereas Barclays, while busy, didn't actually have queues going outside.
Open your bank account before you get there - then you already have your cheque books, account numbers etc, and it makes life so much easier.
As for which one to go for - they're all much of a muchness. Go with whoever you like personally.SHO/F2 Doctor, A&E/T&O/Gen Surg

I have a Nationwide account at the moment which is quite good because it has intergrated e-savings and I like the fact that it's a building society, but you'd need a student account (which Nationwide don't do) for interest-free overdraft/ freebies).
I think HBOS or RBS have a branch somewhere not too far away in Harbone too.
The problem with comparing accounts is that they try to make them difficult to compare and when you look at it very carefully, as you say, it mostly comes to the same sort of thing. So I might just go to NatWest for the railcard..."Don't get high on your own supply."
